Our commercial manager, Juan Pradell, visited three Central American countries: Panama, Costa Rica and Mexico. It was a tight itinerary with lots of meeting, interviews, training sessions, wine tasting and wine pairing events. He started off in Panama City where he stayed at one of Panama’s most exclusive hotels; then he flew to Costa Rica and wrapped up the tour with his 3-day stay in Mexico. It was a fruitful business trip where he was able to strengthen our relationship with long-standing customers and broaden Lágrimas de Maria‘s marketshare, which gradually consolidates its position as one of Central America’s best sold Spanish wines.
Juan Pradell’s tour of Panama City started off with a visit to Hotel Las Americas Golden Towers. Lágrimas de Maria has been listed for the Hotel’s events such as weddings and corporate launches. According to CEO Carlos Diago “customers have instantly taken to Lagrimas de Maria”. Here is a stunning view of Panama City from Juan’s hotel room. Dinner at Restaurante Assisi, a city landmark in Panama, was a great opportunity to get together with the sales team of Landtrading and importer Tzanetatos, who also attended the venue. A wine tasting was held at this excellent Italian restaurant where Lagrimas de Maria is the house wine. To wrap up our visit to Panama we had a wine tasting and pairing event at A Banda restaurant in Panama City, where Lagrimas de Maria is the house wine, too. Then, we flew to San Jose de Costa Rica.
SAN JOSE DE COSTA RICA
San José de Costa Rica is a fantastic city. People are so welcoming that you instantly take to the place and start making yourself comfy – unfortunately the stay was too short. Our first item in the itinerary was the wine tasting and pairing event at La Vinerie. Over 40 attendees, all from the wine sector and a handful of #winelovers, took part in a 3-hour interactive tasting event, spiced up by guitarist, Jorge, undoubtedly one of the best guitar players in Costa Rica. Special thanks to Cristina Soto, venue manager and sommelier.
Next stop was the wine tasting and pairing event at Donde Carlos Restaurant in San José. Among the attendees we had local city entrepreneurs. The restaurant owner treated us to a very special dinner. We made the best of the meal by pairing the dishes with 4 Lagrimas de Maria wines.
We also made product presentations of the Lagrimas de Maria’s range at Duty Free shops at the San Jose de Costa Rica airport. A finger-buffet was given to the attendees and a wine tasting with a training session. Airport assistants were very responsive and enthusiastic about gaining new insights into the world of wine. We then paid a visit to Gabanna, de Escazú, where we presented our wines after perfectly pairing them with Gabanna’s chef’s superb dinner. We wrapped up our visit by calling on Limoncello Restaurant in San José, one of the most exclusive restaurants in town.
By April 7th we arrived in Mexico. We dropped by two Vinopremier wine shops at Mercado de la Roma, where we met with store manager Carlos and with manager Carla, at de La Condesa store. The latter is intent on holding two more wine tastings with Lagrimas de Maria before the summer as former tastings have proved quite popular with locals. On the whole, good on-line results with more millenninals opening up to Spanish wines.
