From 19th March to the 21st, Bodegas Patrocinio was back for another year at ProWein, the most important wine and spirits trade fair in the world, where we will be presenting our latest vintages. More than 6,000 exhibitors from around 60 countries will meet in Düsseldorf (Germany).
During the three days of ProWein, over 55,000 people expected to attend. The fair is for professionals in trade, gastronomy and hospitality. For Bodegas Patrocinio, it is a unique chance to present our new vintages. We will be bringing along a sample of each of our brands: Lágrimas de María, ZINIO, Señorío de Uñuela and Sancho Garcés. In addition, our wines will also be available at the Meininger tasting area.
The 2016 vintage was characterised by a winter that was not particularly cold, but very humid, with plenty of rainfall during a longer spring than usual. The summer period was influenced by the absence of rainfall, with a very slow ripening and maturation phase, which led to excellent state of grape health. In the period immediately preceding the harvest, there was light rainfall, which helped to complete the phenolic maturation. We can conclude that this was an excellent year for grape health and structure to create great wines.
In 2015, the vintage was characterised by abundant rains in winter and a hot summer, which led to an earlier harvest. August had more moderate temperatures and an excellent state in the growth of the plant, with a moderate load. These factors endured until the harvest.
In the 2014 vintage, the weather was very favourable throughout the year, resulting in a veraison with optimal health and plant growth conditions. Once phenolic and alcoholic maturity was reached the wines were produced, with a half-degree higher alcohol level and medium-high colour intensity that was higher than that of 2013. The excellent selection from the vineyard assures us of a good vintage for young wines and medium-to-long term aged crianzas.
